When we build each other up
instead of tear each other down
it’s amazing what we can create
- what inspiration can be found
When we dedicate our lives
to serving those in need
- not only will we help others
we, too, shall succeed
The aim in life is to create
rather than to destroy
- create the life you want to live
- full of peace, love and joy
Live a life of inclusion
rather than seeking to exclude
…and instead of whining and complaining
sing words of praise and gratitude
It’s time to stand up for
the hopes & dreams you want to achieve
…embrace all that you are feeling
and remember to believe.

Do you listen to your intuition
or do you cast those thoughts aside?
Do you ignore their very existence
or do you allow your intuition to guide?
We can learn a lot from looking within
- both in our heads & in our hearts.
And listening to the guidance we get
for it can play a big part.
Whether it’s a hunch that is big
or as small as an inkling,
Intuition comes to us
…without even thinking.
And when we listen to it
we usually find
That something which is guiding us
has greater knowledge than our mind.
So listen to your intuition,
trust those instincts from within…
They are there to protect you
as well as to help you succeed & win.

Sometimes the clouds descend upon us
Making it so we can’t see
What lies before us
…Perhaps it’s so we can free…
Ourselves from the burdens
We have placed upon our shoulders
All the “should’ves” and the guilt
That increases as we grow older
When the fog rolls in it slows us down
And we must rely on more than sight
- Both memory and intuition can help us
To know what moves are “right”
Though sometimes they end up being “wrong”
- Hindsight is 20/20 it’s said
That’s why it is important
To enjoy the journey you tread

I feel a twinge of sadness
deep within my soul
It’s like a cloud has come over me
and I have lost control
Logically, I know I can choose
the emotions that I’m feeling
And I smile to find some happiness
but the sadness seems more appealing
And so I think there’s something here,
some lesson for me to learn
So I’ll embrace the sorrow now
in hopes that I can turn…
The heavy feeling in my heart
into a lightness of love and peace
That will come when I stop holding on
- when I let go and release
Any sorry, any worry
and even all my fear
As I open my arms to embrace
the joy that I know is near

Sometimes I have to stop
though my head tells me to go
my movements so disjointed…
no grace or ease or flow
And so I pause and take a breath
close my eyes, and look within
where I can find both strength & direction
and I can begin…again
I sometimes look for answers
outside myself, projecting…
waiting for and wanting acknowledgment
when I could easily be reflecting
On all I’ve done and all I can
accomplish when I take action…
instead I focus on my failures
and the lack of satisfaction
Until I stop myself & realize
this is not how I want to feel…
I want to be happy and free
and the feeling must be real
I am being honest here…
sometimes I’m happy, sometimes I’m not
but I do know that in this life
I only get one shot
And when I see the big picture
it’s filled with great clarity
it helps me be true to myself
for the best I can be is me.

Life seems so unfair sometimes
But it only happens when
I focus on what I don’t like
And I allow myself to begin…
Worrying about the future
And questioning the past…
Have I done all that I could
To make the positive feelings last?
And I start to wonder what if
…About the past and the future, too
What if something happens?
What would I do?
I can’t control what happens
But I can control one thing
- My reaction to it
And all the emotions that brings
I can choose to be downtrodden
Or I can be inspired…
One saps all my energy,
The other gets me wired
But in this moment, this sacred space,
I do think life is unfair
I embrace this genuine feeling
Because I am very aware
That fighting the feeling
Is only making it persist
Where acknowledging it helps it dissipate
So there’s no reason to resist
Unless I think it will keep me there
And I am certain it will not
For while life may be unfair
It’s the only one I’ve got
And I’m going to live it
To the fullest each & every day
Fair or not, life is precious
And that’s all I’ve got to say

The busy-ness never ends
there’s always something more to do
That’s why it’s so important
to first take care of you
Make sure you know and understand
what’s most important to you
And plan your day, as best you can
- make time for those things to do
If guilt creeps in and you’re feeling
bad about looking out for you, too
Know that it’s your primary job
…no one else will do it for you
So take responsibility
and use the choice given to you
Choose to take care of yourself
then you can take care of others, too
My dreams reach out before me
like a rainbow in the sky…
beautiful and broad,
reaching way up high
And sometimes they appear to be
illusions I cannot touch…
I wonder – are my dreams too big?
Am I asking for too much?
I am happy with where I cam
and grateful for everything…
I have been blessed in my life
yet I know there’s more I can bring
More happiness, more peace,
and not only for me…
for the more I have,
the more I can give with glee
My dreams are reaching out
my arms stretched open wide…
I’ve made a plan in my head
and I’m letting my heart be my guide
Do you worry about what others think?
Do you let those possibilities impact
Who you are, how you dress,
What you say, how you act?
If you spend your time wondering
About what other people think of you
You could drive yourself crazy
And let it affect what you do
In reality we see others
As a reflection of ourselves -
Sometimes we see what we like
Other times we see something else…
And so other people see you
In the same way, too -
Sometimes they’ll be filled with praise
For who you are & what you do
Other times they may be
Judgemental or filled with spite
But those things are not really about you
So don’t let their thoughts be right
Be yourself and be excited
The you’re the only you there is
And know that the world benefits
By who you are and what you give.
Staying present in the moment
can help to stem the fear,
It can override sadness from the past
when you stay in the now, right here.
But anticipation is important
- to have something to look forward to,
And reflection is also a crucial part
of what makes you…you
The key is to find harmony
- how to live effectively with all three,
Knowing that what and how you feel
is impacted greatly by what you see
Sometimes you’ll see the road ahead
filling you with excitement…or possibly dread
Other times you will be looking back
on memories that fill you up…or viciously attack
And the way to “regain control”
is to understand you already do
Control your thoughts, your feelings
- what you choose is up to you
You can get excited about what lies ahead
or pull yourself down with worry and fear,
You can learn the lessons from the past
or keep repeating your mistakes each year
You can also choose to be present
and in this moment find the gift,
With gratitude and appreciation
your soul will start to lift
And like the sun that shines brilliantly
but each night it fades to black,
Life, too, has its ups and downs
and we cannot get a moment back
So make the most of each moment
no matter where you go
- Past, present or future
its up to you, you know
